Where to begin? I've got really mixed feelings about this so I'm not really sure what to say about it. First of all, a big thank you to Bella, because she was so nice! Then, stepping to the story... Mhm... Mhm...
Some spoilers coming ahead!
Sofia is abducted by Lucas, she ends up in The Shade with other girls that were also abducted. For what? Just to turn into slaves of those living in The Shade. Vampires, oh yeah. So, Sofia is set up as one of Derek Novak's slaves among with other girls, who turn out to be his harem. Derek, the prince of vampires recently awakened, chooses Sofia as her personal "slave". And, of course, they end up having feelings for each other.
Pros
-The Shade. It was a cool plot this "vampire haven" Bella created, and it's a difficult one to settle. Props on that.
-Some plot devices. Ben's appearance in The Shade is a good example of it. I didn't expected and added a twist to the story.
Cons
-Editing needed. There are some unnecessary repetitions.
-Insta-love. I'm so over the bad guy falls in love with the good and super special girl. At least Sofia isn't portrayed as a super intelligent, cool, pretty girl that's the best of the best. It's just the best of the best in Derek's eyes.
-Some plot twists are predictable.
Overall
It felt like nothing really important happened and I wish a more complex plot was developed. The idea of The Shade and the hunters is great, but this book mainly told the relation between Derek and Sofia and the crazy Lucas being... Well, crazy (I really don't get why Derek didn't kill him when he got the chance!). I did expect more of it, to be honest.
So, if you're in for romance and like paranormal stuff, there you go, read it, you'll like it. But, if you don't, I think this won't be the right book for you.
And that being said, happy reading guys!
